Phone Verification Process Added to Enhance Fraud Detection Solutions
Boston, MA, July 11, 2005-- MaxMind, an industry-leading provider of geolocation and online
fraud detection tools, launches the Telephone Verification service.
By removing some of the anonymity offered by the Internet, the process provides merchants
with another tool to prevent online fraud.
The Telephone Verification service can run as an independent service or it can be combined
with MaxMind's Credit Card Fraud Detection (CCFD) service for optimum protection.
Businesses can also customize the Telephone Verification service accordingly to their business
needs. For example, the setting can be adjusted so that the system requires telephone
verification only from customers who are using free e-mail addresses or orders that have a score above
a certain CCFD threshold value.
“MaxMind's automation of the manual phone verification process is easy to implement and an
effective deterrent against online fraudsters,” said TJ Mather, president and founder of
MaxMind. “Fraudsters would most likely not be willing to go through with this extra step
since it increases the risk of the fraud being traced back to them.”
