Applications
The minFraud services are versatile tools that can be used for many applications besides credit card fraud prevention. The services can be used to verify other online activities such as PayPal payments, online credit card applications, and ACH transactions. This is possible because the fields used by minFraud match the fields used by other applications where geographical location information is available. Bank Identification Number (BIN) fields would not be used for these other applications.

Risk Score
The minFraud riskScore is calculated by examining and weighing several risk factors associated with each transaction. The resulting score ranges from 0 to 100 and indicates the likelihood of the transaction being fraudulent. An order with a riskScore of 5 has a 5% chance of being fraudulent, and an order with a riskScore of 90 has a 90% chance of being fraudulent. See the riskScore FAQ for more information.

APIs

While you can write your own code to access the HTTP service, we recommend using our APIs. The APIs will reduce programming time, and automatically failover to the backup server in case the primary server is unreachable. If you would like to contribute APIs in a language that is not listed, please contact support@maxmind.com.
