minFraud Info

Applications
minFraud is a versatile tool that can be used for many applications besides credit card fraud prevention. The service can be used as an application to verify other processes such as PayPal payments, online credit card applications, and ACH transactions. This is possible because the current fields used by minFraud match fields from other applications where geographical location information is available. BIN match fields would not be used for other applications.

Risk Score
MaxMind's minFraud Risk Score is calculated by examining and weighing several risk factors associated with each transaction. You can write your own code to customize the fraud scoring algorithm, since MaxMind returns the inputs into the formula used to calculate the risk score. To customize how the risk score is calculated, modify the formula we use to calculate the risk score, using the output results returned by the minFraud service as inputs into your modified formula.

Merchant Resources

Tom Mahoney of Merchant911 sells an excellent course, Preventing E-Commerce Chargebacks, that covers every angle of preventing chargebacks, including the merchant, technical and legal side of things.
