We're committed to diversity and inclusion and are mindful of incorporating them into all aspects of our company. New ideas and perspectives come from diverse ways of seeing and thinking. MaxMind is sensitive to all individuals and viewpoints. We believe everyone's contributions and opinions are valuable assets to our team.
We value bringing individuals and different perspectives together within and across every department.
We encourage and sincerely welcome applications from candidates of color, women, members of the LGBTQ+ community, candidates with family caregiving responsibilities, and from other communities not well represented in the tech world.
If you have suggestions on how we may better promote or express our commitment to diversity and inclusion, we would love to hear from you. Please send your suggestions to hr@maxmind.com.
To deliver quality results for our customers, we recognized early on that we are one team and we work best when we work together. Knowing each other as people rather than just coworkers is one of the keys to our success. All members of our team are encouraged to be themselves, free to express their opinions, and to define goals and objectives collectively. We work hard to make sure every voice is heard (even the quiet ones).
As a company, many of us work remotely so it's natural that technology plays a major role in our daily communication. The process works because, at its core, our workplace is based on trust. Everyone, wherever we are located, trusts each other to get their work done, showing faith in each other and giving peers the flexibility to work how they want.
We're friendly, collaborative, and work-focused. We don't like office politics and unnecessary stress. We like to have productive workdays and don't like work to chase us when we're done for the day. We care about helping each other succeed.
The long-term success of our business depends on our ability to attract and retain the best people and treat them well. We foster meaningful career paths for employees and create an environment where people feel that all aspects of their work and personal lives are being supported. Portions of our budget are dedicated to team building activities and social gatherings. We even have a cross-departmental group which meets regularly to come up with unique ways for employees to have fun. Every year, we hold holiday dinners, a baking contest, a charitable event, and are always open to new company event ideas.
In our most recent survey, employees listed having a supportive work culture, good coworkers, involvement in interesting work, autonomy, and feeling trusted, valued, and respected as some of the things they liked most about working at MaxMind.
MaxMind employees are distributed across the U.S. and Canada. We've had remote employees since 2006 and the practices and processes to support remote work have expanded as the company has grown.
The key to enabling this is communications, an emphasis on sharing information, and using tools and mechanisms which support team members in different time zones. We use Slack and Google Suite to collaborate remotely. Many teams meet daily and use shared documents to enable threads of discussions. Social and business Slack channels let people interact with each other and share advice, ideas, or interesting things they've found online.
We offer compensation and benefits packages that support our employees in many aspects of their lives.
US benefits include medical, dental, vision, life and disability, health savings account (HSA), spending account plans (flexible spending, limited purpose flexible spending, and dependent care), and a Safe Harbor 401(k) plan with employer contribution.
Our Canadian benefits package covers employees for comprehensive benefits including life, health, dental, vision, short and long-term disability, critical illness, and accidental death and dismemberment (AD&D).
All employees also have access to an employee and family assistance program (EFAP) which provides support to employees and their families so that they can manage work, health, and life challenges.
We offer paid time off for a broad range of categories, including, but not limited to, vacation, sick time, parental leave, bereavement, jury duty, and voting.
We understand that balancing home and work responsibilities can be challenging so we offer a flexible work schedule built around core hours.
Furthermore, we offer an annual budget as well as days off for professional development to all employees.
