As of April 1, 2018, updated versions of the GeoLite Legacy databases will be available to redistribution license customers only, although anyone can continue to download the March 2018 GeoLite Legacy builds. On January 2, 2019, the last build will be removed from our website. GeoLite Legacy database users will need to switch to the GeoLite2 or commercial GeoIP databases and update their integrations by January 2, 2019.

In addition, in 2019, latitude and longitude coordinates in the GeoLite2 databases will be removed.*
* GeoLite2 databases are free IP geolocation databases comparable to, but less accurate than, MaxMind’s GeoIP2 databases. Latitude and longitude coordinates will continue to be provided in GeoIP2 databases. Please check back for updates.
Our developer's package is designed to provide businesses with the ability to include IP address geolocation technology within their products. The GeoLite2 Developer's Package allows you to distribute GeoLite2 databases (including updates) royalty-free for one year.
How can GeoLite2 databases be used?
There are many applications that can benefit from the addition of geolocation technology. For example, the GeoLite2 Developer's Package can be used for ad-serving engines, web analytics, traffic blocking/redirecting tools, spam-filters, and firewall software.
With the Developer's Package, you can distribute your product without having to worry about paying royalties to us. Should your clients need more accuracy, they can purchase GeoIP2 database licenses from us. GeoIP2 databases are drop-in replacements for GeoLite2 databases.
We offer redistribution licenses for GeoLite2 databases that allow you to package the databases with your commercial products.
We include a license for redistribution of our API code with your commercial software.
Difference between GeoLite2 and GeoIP2 databases
MaxMind GeoIP2 databases are more accurate than the GeoLite2 databases. Currently we offer royalty-free redistribution for GeoLite2 databases.
Purchase Licenses online
Please review the GeoLite2 Developer's Package license agreement before purchase. To prevent customer confusion, please do not refer to GeoLite2 data as GeoIP data.
