Submit GeoIP Data Corrections

MaxMind accepts data correction request submissions. If you believe that the IP geolocation or other data we have associated with an IP address is incorrect, you can submit a correction request. Learn more about how to submit a correction request:

Correcting a Few IPs

Our online forms are the best way to request corrections for a small number of IPs or IP ranges.

If you are submitting a correction request for your own IP address, please check your IP address using our Locate My IP Address demo to make sure we do not already have the correct geolocation and ISP information. You can also check our data for any IP address using the GeoIP2 City Plus web service IP lookup demo.

There are many reasons we may not be able to accept a request. For example, the geocordinates listed in our IP geolocation data are not meant to identify a particular street address or household, so we would not accept a request to geolocate an IP address to a specific address. You can learn more about our IP geolocation areas and other IP geolocation data on our knowledge base.

Use the following forms to submit your correction request:

Batch Corrections via Geofeed

If you are an organization or company that helps to assign IP addresses or you otherwise have access to regular, recurring truth-data about large numbers of IP addresses, please be in touch with our data corrections team at correction@maxmind.com to discuss the best way to submit regular corrections.

In most cases, we will help to facilitate a geofeed where you can push your corrections to our team in a regular, automated way. You can establish a geofeed for one-time corrections, or for recurring corrections. Please note that geofeeds must contain the following five fields in order to be accepted, although only the IP field must be populated for each entry: ip_range, country, region, city, and postal_code. See the IETF formatting guidelines for more information.

If you are unable to set up a geofeed, please see the instructions for submitting one-time batch corrections via email below.

One-time Batch Corrections via Email

If you have several corrections to submit at once but you cannot set up a geofeed as described above, we may accept a batch corrections file that conforms to the specifications outlined by RFC 8805, "A Format for Self-Published IP Geolocation Feeds". You may submit this file by email to correction@maxmind.com

Please validate your batch correction file using this tool from our GitHub page prior to submitting it. Please tell us what organization you are with, and if you are a MaxMind customer, please include your account ID for easy reference. Learn how to find your account ID on our knowledge base.

Correction Status

For data corrections submitted through our online forms, or one-time batch corrections, we will send you a confirmation email if your correction request is accepted.

We only send one email to confirm a correction request has been accepted per 24 hour period, so if you have several corrections accepted you will only receive a confirmation for the first accepted correction.

We ask that you please allow 1-2 business days for submitted requests to be reviewed by our team. We will not be able to comment on the status of a correction prior to that time.

Corrections We Do Not Accept

We do not accept all data correction requests. Some common reasons that we may not accept a correction request include:

Corrections Schedule

When we accept a data correction, it is usually included in the next possible release of our databases:

Data Correction Submitted Corrections Ready for Release
By end of business hours on Friday The following Tuesday
By end of business hours on Wednesday The following Friday

Once a data correction is ready for release, it will be included in the next regularly scheduled update of our GeoIP2 databases. You can see our database release schedule on our knowledge base.
